I love this

What I like about John Green is that he’s smart and responsible and funny and knows how to relate to adolescents really well - his books are not condescending or censored to rewrite adolescence or any of that (generally, in my opinion. If anyone disagrees then this is definitely up for discussion).  And he uses this connection to encourage kids to read The Great Gatsby (and enjoy it!) and stop using homophobic slurs and derogatory terms and think about life on a deeper level.  Sure, not every teenager I know agrees with his literary/life messages or every single one of his videos but, from what I can tell, he tends to have a very positive impact overall. (Hank Green, too! But this gif is of John so yeah.)
